Configuring RSS Feeds for DataCloud Status Notifications

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to configure a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed for trust.pervasive.com with email clients and browsers. An RSS feed allows you to receive automated notifications on DataCloud performance and availability.

Note:  a new URL showing 30-days of history is now available. Please use http://cloud.pervasive.com/DataCloudAvailability.aspx.

Procedures 

Use the following procedures to setup an RSS feed for various browser and email clients:

Note: additional RSS client and browser combinations are possible and instructions will be available via various external online help resources.

Mozilla Firefox

Use the following procedure to setup an RSS feed from Mozilla Firefox.

  1. Ensure that you are running the appropriate email client.
  2. Open http://trust.pervasive.com or http://cloud.pervasive.com/DataCloudAvailability.aspx.
  3. Click on the bookmark icon (to the right of the Home icon) and select Subscribe to This Page...
  1. Select your email client from the drop-down list and click <Subscribe Now>. You will be prompted to add the RSS feed to your designated email client. Click <Yes>.
     
  2. The RSS feed will be added to your email client.

  3. Note: additional configuration of the email client may be necessary to set limits on how often the data is refreshed. An example is provided in the Outlook instructions.

Internet Explorer

Use the following instructions to add an RSS feed for Internet Explorer:

  1. Ensure that you are running the appropriate email client.
  2. Open http://trust.pervasive.com.
  3. Click the RSS Icon (to the right of the Home icon).
  4. Click the Subscribe to this feed link.
  5. Click <Subscribe> to add the RSS feed to Internet Explorer.

Manually Configuring an RSS feed in Microsoft Outlook

Use the following instructions to manually configure an RSS feed in Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click the File -> Info -> Account Settings -> Account Settings...
  3. Click the RSS Feeds tab.
  4. Click New...
  5. Enter trust.pervasive.com (or http://cloud.pervasive.com/DataCloudAvailability.aspx) and click <Add>.
    Note: some Outlook configurations will require that you enter http:// and the feed after the address. Type http://trust.pervasive.com/feed/10531.
  6. Depending on your Outlook settings, you may need to uncheck the Update Limit box to ensure that your feeds are refreshed as quickly as possible and click <OK>.
  7. Click <Close> and the feed will be added to the RSS Feeds folder.
